02/2025: Ronnie and his crew just completed a job for me and once again they did fantastic work. Second time I have used these guys and I was happy that I did. Last time it was some indoor painting, this time I needed long stacks of weathered lumber and numerous chunks of concrete removed (leftover building material) that had been an eyesore at the corner of my backyard for some time. This outfit removed the debris at an affordable price. Each time I have used them they have been punctual, meticulous, efficient and extremely easy to work with. Thanks, guys, Ronnie. You are my go-to for home improvement projects that are quite simply far too involved for the average homeowner to tackle on his or her own. ****************** 2022: These gentlemen did a fantastic job with the interior painting I needed done - a couple walls, trim around windows, a baseboard running the length of a wall, a door frame - precision that would have driven me crazy attempting to stay in the lines. We have used Ronnie multiple times over the years. His crews have done interior and exterior painting, drywall, and interior and exterior trim work. The work has been completed on time with excellent workmanship and within budget. We would recommend him without reservation and we will use him again.

After having dealt with six other contract service providers whom were not punctual and overpriced, I by happenstance encountered HNHL owner Ronnie Hicks on a job site. Mr. Hicks provided a reasonable estimate for services needed at my home (much less than the others) and a quick start date. On the day of project start, Mr. Hicks employees (Ricky and Sam) came to my front door and introduced themselves and immediately began their work. Ricky deconstructed my deck and built a new deck quickly and very efficiently. It is apparent by the quick build and quality of skill employed that Ricky has mad experience in this area. My wife and I could not be happier with the deck! While Ricky did the deconstruct and construction of the new deck, Sam worked on replacing wood rot siding. Sam's attention to detail, thoroughness in his work, and dedication to getting the job done was evident through the entire course of time on the project. Their work was so impressive that a neighbor decided to utilize them for some needed work, which then lead to ANOTHER neighbor utilizing the services of HNHL! Forget these big name companies, go with the small business crew that can get the job done! Highly reccomend HNHL and will be utilizing them again! Mr. Hicks, thank you and a special kudos to both Ricky and Sam for the great work, long hours, and diligence you put forth into my projects!
My house had a lot of wood rot that needed to be replaced. Ronnie and his team not only were able to fit me in quickly, but they were then patient when I had to push back the time. As prices in materials have continued to rise, they still honored their original quote, which was much cheaper than all of the others. As the work began, he handed me receipts so I knew the exact costs of the supplies instead of including materials into the quote (which we all know would be over the actual cost). The work was completed in a timely manner, and completed very well. After the job was complete, the areas were cleaned to look even better than they were found. I am very happy I was told about Ronnie and Half Now Half Later! The entire process was one that was done with integrity.
Rooms were painted very cleanly and quickly, and the work was done with respect given to my family's schedule. After the job was finished, Ronnie offered to help with a quick fix on my front storm door. A few days later, he made good on the offer and it was fixed up at no charge.

We used Half Now Half Later for some pretty intense wallpaper removal and then interior painting. Ronnie was exceptionally responsive, professional, and accommodating. We got a quote promptly after contacting him. He was very easy to work with and available for any questions. He made sure we were 100% satisfied before taking our second payment. Pricing was very reasonable and he stuck with the original estimate even though our job took slightly longer than expected to complete. Ronnie and Tim were very unobtrusive and my husband was easily able to work from home while they were here. They cleaned everything up every night and we were able to use our home as normal while they were gone.
Work done efficiently and professionally. It was pleasant experience working with owner and workers. Very pleased with result of work. They did whole house inside and out.

Ronnie Hicks recently completed a wood-rot repair job on my house, and it was extremely well done. His carpenter and painter both did exceptional work, and I couldn't be happier with the result. My 100+ year old house in Hyde Park looks great. They started on time, they completed on time, and they kept me involved all along the way. Great work!

Good quality, good value, the workers were very cordial and polite and these days that type of good customer relations is hard to find. It has been 2 weeks since Half Now Half Later painted my entire house and we could not be more content with the experience. Every time we turn the corner to our house and see its fresh paint we cant help but admire how good it looks and how professional Ron and his crew took care of our home. We had an excellent experience with Ronnie and his team! We needed both exterior and interior painting and Ronnie was able to quickly get us a quote and on the docket. Jay did an incredible job - he was on-time, took care to use tape / drop cloths / clean up afterwards, and did such careful and thorough work. Our deck and walls look incredible! I hired Half Now Half Now Later to paint my rental house in Raytown, and ultimately had them to do numerous updates. Ronnie and his team are by far THE MOST honest, responsive, skilled, reliable, hard working crew in town. They completed painting, flooring, plumbing, roof repairs, foundation repairs, and even turned an existing space into a 4th bedroom! Ronnie will work within your budget, and is conscientious about not adding unneeded costs. My home was totally restored, and more importantly, rented within a short amount of time, thanks to Ronnie. If you want a top notch job completed at a decent price, and by honest professionals, you should reach out to them. You will not regret it!

Ronnie called me within minutes of my submission, which was on a Saturday, and had his crew out to my house on Monday. His pricing is budget friendly and both he and his crew were very respectful. This was my project and not once did he talk down to me or belittle me because he was dealing with me instead of my husband. I would give him more stars if I could, instead I will just have to tell everyone about him!
They were on time, professional and good quality. I had a few touch ups I wanted them to do after the project. I messaged the owner and they were back onsite that very afternoon. I would hire them again.

These guys did an outstanding job remodeling my attic into an office/extra bedroom/studio space. They built the room, installed flooring, sheetrock, painting, the whole 9 yards. There was a fixed cost for labor, which eliminated any guesswork and they went out of their way to find quality materials at the lowest cost available, coming in about $3000 less than the original quote for materials. Ronnie Hicks is the most conscientious contractor I have worked with in the KCMO area.

Ronnie and team did a great job with our remodel. We needed work done on many different areas of our home and the end product looks seamless. From staining floors and stairs, painting doors and trim, to removing an attic fan and properly constructing an attic access, we are pleased with the end product. We bought an office condo that needed significant improvement. Getting Ronnie to remodel our office was such a blessing, as we lived two hours away and could not make several trips to do some tasks. We had our first in person meeting and discussed what we wanted to do and handed him the key to start the work. The rest of our meetings were over the phone and through texts to go over the progress of the project etc. Ronnie was able to transform the office into a modern space. He was attentive to details and gave us suggestions as needed. He was understanding, hardworking and honest. He saved us from unnecessary travel time and other issues. When we returned the space was transformed! The project was completed because of Ronnie's dedication and good work ethics. He went extra miles to finish the work. He is a rare individual to find.
It was such a pleasure working with this company. They listened to what we wanted and made our home look great! Ronnie and Tim were both very professional and respectful of my home and family. I hired Ronnie and his team to repair some drywall that had water damage and repaint the room, after being left high and dry by another contractor. Ronnie very prompt to give me a quote. He was very punctual and easy to work. He delivered everything as promised. I called on day 2 to discuss going further with the demo than originally planned, and he started on it right away. I'm overall very pleased with the quality of work and the services Ronnie and his team provided. I will definitely be giving him a call in the future for my next project.

Owner Ronnie came out and identified concerns that needed to be addressed, gave me what I thought was a fair estimate. Offered suggestions on how to choose the paint palette I was thinking of. The painters took the time to properly prepare my house to take the paint, and did a beautiful job, the final result was exactly as I pictured in my mind, my house looks fresh and renewed. Everyone was professional, courteous, accommodating and concerned about what I wanted, Ronnie assured me that the job would not be complete until I was totally satisfied. Highly recommend.

Ronnie and his crew did a great job on our house. We had a minor issue and Ronnie made sure to get it corrected before finalizing our project. He stated several times that the job wasn't done until we were satisfied. All of the painters and carpenters work incredibly hard and are very respectful. Would recommend!

We were just relocated to Texas and wanted almost all of the interior of our home painted to get it ready to sell. Ronnie and his team recently replaced some damaged siding on the front of my house. The sheeting backing the siding needed replacing as well, and the gutter/roof area responsible for allowing water runoff to create the damage also required repairs. Ronnie was able to come out for an estimate shortly after initial contact and the price was just right. Work started just a few days later and was completed in a timely manner (poor weather considered). The siding and trim looks great, and although Ronnie couldn't make any promises regarding paint matching, the color turned out to match perfectly. All-in, this is your go-to crew if you need any work done on your home, and I'll certainly be contacting again for future jobs.
