Sometimes a color change is all it takes to make a house feel like a completely different home. This one went from a muted tan with white trim - fine, but forgettable - to a bold two-tone blue that genuinely turns heads. Same house, same structure, completely new personality.

Here's what we were working with: a Tudor-style split-level with stucco exterior, a three-car garage, and a decent amount of trim detail throughout. Nothing wrong with it structurally. But the color wasn't doing the home any favors. It blended right into the neighborhood.

What we ended up with is a rich medium blue on the upper stucco panels and a softer, slightly lighter blue on the lower sections and garage - all tied together with crisp white trim. That contrast is what makes it work. The trim detail on a home like this is a big part of the visual, and clean white lines against a strong blue really let the architecture breathe.

Exterior painting on a textured stucco surface isn't the same as painting smooth siding. You have to work the paint into the texture properly, or you end up with uneven coverage and patchy spots. Getting it right takes the right materials and the right technique - and the result has to hold up to the elements long-term, not just look good on day one.

Color has a way of doing the heavy lifting when it comes to curb appeal. A well-chosen palette can highlight architectural details you didn't even notice before, and this home is a great example of that.
